Thalia Field's Point and Line- This short story is written in first person point of view. It appears this woman is in a psychologists office, judging by the first line "I occupy this comfortable chair in your office and you stare at me. We are not speaking to one another and you've called this uncomfortable time silence." Although I am not a doctor, the author depicts this patient as having some sort of mental disorder. The syntax is very creative because the sentances are random and descriptive so the reader instantly knows they are reading the patients thought process. Some intense diction and imagery is used. "I feel my cheeks burn as if they might peel off and fly toward the window, striking against it, a terrifying wet burn."
Misdemeanors by Sherman Alex- This story is about an old man that brags about being a tough ex-con, but in reality had a humiliating story about robbing a bowling alley. This story is short but straight to the point. Misdemeanors is very funny to me because the old man used socks on his hands to punch in the window and was found with his paints on his ankles.

Escape Training: Instructor's Flying Rappel is a poem about escaping danger. The diction is very grousome but caught my attention. This poem is one of my favorite poems in this book.

City Ecologue
I would like to comment on the poem stand-in invocation. My interpretation of this poem is its about a man who loves a woman who doesn't love him back. The diction stood out to me using words such as A New York instead of a woman, and clairvoyances instead of sightings.
The poem sequoia sempervirens also was a pleasure to read. The first line- We are about what a squirrel's size is to a tree to this tree- caught my attention. The poem is about people connecting to nature. I could sense how much the poet passionitly felt about nature

war
The combustions of men were drenched in red
Soldiers lying on hospital beds telling her not to cry
After checking his vital signs
They were reassured he was in the sky
Rickshaws and bulldozers exploding in the sand
No poker chips needed when gambling for this land
Looking around like someone had a plan
Men continued to fight and take a stand
Tyranny paraded the battlefield that day
Completely baffled realizing how much they would pay
Men, women and children all in graves
Pray to god heaven will let them stay
